Melbourne Food and Wine Festival 2011

Edible Eden had a lot of fun putting together a display in front of the State Library based around the iconic symbols of the festival – glass, plate, spoon and fork.

The brief was for the tableware to be taken over by exuberant plantings reminiscent of the Triffids and of course the plants needed to be edible.

As most vegetables were not then available as advanced plants, a large amount of plants had to be grown by the Edible Eden team in the preceding months.

Edible Eden’s rustic wall gardens were built to cover the timber base, to add to the feeling of being engulfed by greenery.

Passionfruit vines clambered up, strawberries spilled over and sunflowers and chillies popped up brightly and showed the many visitors how beautiful edible plants can be!
